2 – Do not over-vaccinate! The side effects of vaccinations can be very detrimental to your dog’s health as well as lowering his natural immunity. The average dog lives 10-12 years and has usually received his first round of vaccinations as a pup, these vaccines remain active, in most cases, for his lifetime. If you’re unsure, you could always do a titer test to check. Also, in most provinces and states, Rabies is the only one required by law. Studies have shown that the Rabies vaccine remains active in the dog’s body for, in most cases, the dog’s life as well! Do we, as humans, go back to the doctor, year after year to get our measles and mumps shots? No we do not! After our initial round of shots, we’re now immunized for life!
